The World’s Strongest Man 2025 Final airs on TV tonight and we finally get to see who won, despite it taking place months ago! Here are the 10 men who have qualified!
A very interesting group of athletes with HALF of the 10 men qualifying for the final for their first time ever! From the other 5, only 2 of them (Tom Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper) have won before or simply placed on the podium. Trey Mitchell finishing 4th twice is the best finish of every other athlete! So no matter what happens today, we will have a brand new third place finisher at the very least!
Lets have a quick look at the events (as they were announced earlier in the year, some things could have changed) and who might suit them the best!
Knack Carry & Hoist – 200kg implement to be carried down a 20m course, and then they go into an arm over arm “hoist” event. We’ve seen something similar at Britain’s Strongest Man in 2024, and big Tom Stoltman won the event with his brother coming in a very close second. I’d also expect Hooper to do well too, and even Rayno Nel who seemed to be a great all-rounder in the heats
18″ Max Deadlift – A simple deadlift event for max weight, only the bar is an 18 inch bar off the ground, which makes it easier for the athletes to lift heavier weights. We saw this in 2020 when Novikov won the event and set a new world record of 537.5kg. The only other athletes from that final in this final are the Stoltman Brothers, and they didn’t do anywhere near that weight, however, Tom has improved immensely from that time and should be lifting over 500kg now. Hooper is a better deadlifter certainly for max weight so if he’s in good shape expect him to aim for the world record if pushed, and Trey Mitchell might be the man to push him, as he was the best deadlifter across all the heats!
Hercules Hold – Unsure of the weight, but I’d guess 250kg in each hand like we’ve seen in other competitions. Later in the year from WSM we saw the event at a Giants Live show, and 5 of the finalists here were in that competition, and from those 5 (Hooper, Haynes, Mitchell, Nel, Kordiyaka) it was Haynes who finished highest. So expect a good result from him here, though I can see an Eddie Williams taking the event win. I can see this being similar to the Conan’s Wheel in previous years where it can completely up-end the leaderboard with the favourites not doing as well, while the guys lower down the table can pull out big numbers!
Flintstones Press for Max – This was an event in the 2022 WSM Final and more recently at the Arnold Strongman Classic. Athletes load up the bar squat style from platforms, then press it overhead from behind the neck. At WSM 2022 Tom Stoltman came in second (behind Novikov) with a massive 240kg, however at the ASM 2025 he “only” managed to lift 232kg which was good enough for joint 4th. Trey and Hooper did better, joint 2nd place with 242kg. So expect all 3 to do incredibly well at this event here. Fojtu is a world class presser and could be right up there with the best as well!
Atlas Stones – 150kg to 210kg stones to be lifted onto platforms in the fastest time. The classic Strongman event to finish up on. Tom is the best at Atlas Stones, but Hooper can usually stick to a close 2nd, and only finishing a point behind Tom could be enough to win outright depending on the points.
So… we know the athletes. We know the events. And we know their points going INTO the final best on their performances in the heats. Who will win? Here are my top 3!!!
Trey Mitchell – He’s finished 4th twice now, and after a disappointing 2024 WSM due to him not fully recovered from injury, he’s back at his best and looking VERY strong. His grip has been a weakness but we have seem him perform very well in Hercules Holds before so I think he can avoid dropping a lot of points there to remain in a top 3 position!
Mitchell Hooper – Yup, I’m predicting a 2nd place finish for Super Hooper! Despite coming out on top overall in the heats, he definitely didn’t look quite his best, so I’m thinking he’ll be just a step behind Tom in most of the events.
Tom Stoltman – Time for another 4 time winner of WSM methinks! Tom looked great in the heats even if he didn’t finish overall as high as Hooper, and I think he’ll be able to dig deep and pull out some big performances to take the title home with him one more time!
